The airport rule I use

Wear the hip seat, or pack it where you can reach it fast, because you will want it the moment your child wants up. For a short hop from check in to the gate, the seat gives your arms a break. For a long airport walk, a nap, or a tired toddler, bring a stroller too. The hip seat is for short, repeated carries, not for a whole travel day on its own.

At security

Be ready to take the carrier off if security asks, just as you would with any belt or bag. Pack it where you can get it back on quickly after screening, and keep your hands on your child when using the hip seat alone. Check your airline and airport rules for baby gear before you fly, because those rules change and they are not set by Tushbaby.

Boarding and the plane

Boarding is when the Snug earns its place. If you need both hands free for bags, tickets, and finding your seat, add the Snug, because the hip seat alone is not hands free. The Snug folds into the pocket under the hip seat, so it costs almost no space to bring.

On the plane, the seat is useful for the aisle, for a quick hold, and for getting on and off. It does not replace a car seat, and it does not replace holding your child safely as your airline requires. Check your airline rules for infants and car seats before you fly.
